UNite to End Violence Against Women

Objective
The United Nations wanted to design a powerful launch event for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's seven-year global Campaign to End Violence against Women. They also sought a functional, yet symbolic item to distribute to high-level audience of Government Ministers, Ambassadors, and NGOs during the campaign inauguration.

Our Role
• Collaborated with the UN, Amazing Taste, and the Comedy Cures Foundation, to design and execute the campaign launch at UN Headquarters in New York City, including inauguration, interactive panel discussion and a VIP cocktail reception, within only 11 days
• Introduced concept of distributing whistles and inviting campaign participants to blow them in unison with the Secretary-General as a simple, yet powerful call to action to end violence against women

Results
• Successful launch of seven-year international campaign
• Over 500 whistles blown in unison – described by one participant as “the most innovative thing I have seen at the UN in a long time”
• ConceptLink Consulting recognized for its leadership by Assistant Secretary-General and Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women
• Over 160 news stories on the launch issued in diverse international and regional media, including SABC News and the New York Times
